Mix feelings trail Kogi APC Congress amidst protest: Senator Melaye kicks

Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West senatorial district of Kogi State yesterday  condemned the Ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi, saying it is a violation of the party's constitution .

Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly,  Rt. Hon. Prince Kolawole Matthew however  commended the exercise,  which he described as the best thing to have happened to the party .

In a statement issued yesterday, and made available to Journalists in Lokoja,  Melaye  urged the people of the state especially APC members to disregard what he called " aKangaroo Ward congress."

His words, "It will be an exercise in futility. The desperation of Yahaya Bello and his monitised consciences at the National Secretariat will fail.

"All party faithfuls in Kogi no cause for Alarm. We are in charge. Very soon we will separate the chaff from wheat."

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Kolawole Matthew has commended the hitch - free nature of the Local Government delegates congress of  the All Progressive Congress, (APC) held all over the State to elect delegates for the forthcoming national conference of the party.

The Speaker who spoke  at Prestige Hotel venue for the Kabba/Bunu Local government area delegate congress said the peaceful conduct was an indication that the party is united.

There have been hues and cries from some party caucuses who said the congress have been canceled. However, it was conducted across the 21 council areas of the state.

The Speaker said the development shows that the party is better strategize to continue its political dominance in the state.

He also flay report in some quarters that the congress had been canceled by the National Working Committee, said the presence of INEC, security operatives and other political stakeholders is an indication that those peddling such rumours were out to destabilize the party by their falsehood.

Announcing the result for Kabba/Bunu LGA, the returning officer, Babalola Fabunmi announced Mr. Jerry Omodara,  Bamidele Joloko and Grace Obamo as elected delegates.
