Kogi APC holds stakeholders/Congress

The Kogi State chapter of the ruling  All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday held its stakeholders meeting in Lokoja ahead of its State congress election today that will produce three delegates each from the 21 Local Government areas of the State.

The Haddy Ametuo led executive members were however  conspicuously absent from the stakeholders meeting.
Lokoja the State capital was locked down as the major road passing through the heart of the city Murtala Muhammed way was completely blocked leading to serious traffic issues.
Heavy security was deployed to man all routes leading to the APC secretariat as party supporters trooped to the venue with drum beats amidst singing and dancing.
Governor Yahaya Bello at the meeting however challenged all members who left the party and are operating from outside to return and build the party with him.
He urged party members to be loyal and obedient to the party directives as it is supreme.
"The party is strong and has no enemy, nobody is pursuing anybody, if you think you are on ground, come home and participate in the Congress."
Bello indicated that in his determination to unite the party and make it to grow foster,  he has worked hard to reverse the situation whereby PDP dominated the House of Assembly and the APC is now in the  majority.
He said they would work hard to ensure APC sweeps the next election as there is no opposition in the State.
"The state secretariat of the party would be constructed in Lokoja and at the Local Government levels, vehicles for the running of the State and Local Government Secretariats of the party would be provided."
Alhaji Ibrahim Jika Galadima who is the chairman of the delegation from the APC national secretariat said Kogi is very dear to APC in view of its strategic  location.
He commended party members for conducting themselves peacefully saying that internal democracy has been the focus of the Party under Odigie Oyegun.
The speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly Honorable Mathew Kolawola expressed doubt whether there is any other party in Kogi West apart from the APC.
He said the APC members from the zone are waiting anxiously for the formation of the Executive members.
Alhaji Ibrahim Linko from Kogi East recalled that the Governor was the highest contributor to the development of the party.
He said in Kogi East APC is rooted 100% as more people are coming to join the party on daily bases.
Chief S. B. Abejide said Kogi west is no  longer the enemy territory that it used to be saying there should be no doubt about the loyalty of Kogi West people.
Honorable Suleiman Kokori said that the people of Kogi central people  have no reason not to support Yahaya Bello.
"The people  are all throwing their weight behind Governor Bello in spite of their membership of other political parties."
It would be recalled that the National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) had assured leaders of the party in the state that it had no plan to dissolve the state chapter of the party or any organ of the party in the state.
The executive members of the State APC and other party leaders had stormed the Party national secretariat earlier to protest an allegation that the national chairman was being used to compromise the case of Kogi and possibly dissolve the executives whose tenure is yet to expire.
