Chairperson of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Aisha Falode says fans will witness the best of female football in this year's Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Super 4 Championship which holds from September 11-16 in Benin City, Edo State.
Tagged Benin City 2017, the NWPL Super 4 will be feature Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels to decide the champion of the 2016/2017 league following the conclusion of the regular season that produced the four teams as the best in their respective groups.
Falode, told The AUTHORITY exclusively at the end of the draws held on Wednesday in Lagos that the four teams set to battle for the converted trophy were very outstanding with their performances during the regular season and expects them to carry that form into the Super 4.
"Yes, we're looking forward to a very competitive Super 4 going by the performances of the teams during the regular season. They were very consistent with their performances and we expect them to take that to the Super 4.
"Presently, the four teams are the best we have right now in the country and we expect to see the best of female football from them," she said, adding that the eventual winners will receive three million naira (N3 million), while the runners-up will go home with two million naira (N2 million).
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board member also commended the Edo State government for accepting to host the championship despite the short notice and the prevailing economic hardship, just as she hailed all the clubs and management for the huge success the League recorded this year.
