A 13-year-old boy, Samuel Chibuike from Emmanuel College, Owerri, Imo State has landed in the police net for indulging in cultism.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem who represented the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike in parading the suspects before newsmen, disclosed that the JS 1 student was arrested in the company of six other cult members of the Black Axe fraternity through the whistle blowing policy the command has adopted.
He further stated that the command acted swiftly on the knowledge that the fraternity celebrates the existence of their cult annually on 7 July and mounted surveillance on all the tertiary institutions in the state which effort yielded in the arrest of the teenager and his gang.
The boy who was caught with an axe, however, did not deny his involvement with the cult gang but claimed that he was forced to join the cult by other members from his school.
He said: “Please forgive me, I will be well behaved, I found myself here because I was forced to join them.”
Chibuike who also claimed that his parents were not aware of his involvement with the group confessed that he only joined them in his second term in the school.
