STEVE OKO in Umuahia reports that the inmates of Ahiaeke Motherless Babies’ home, Umuahia; and Agape Children’s home Ubakala will always live to remember May 29, 2017 - Nigeria’s Democracy Day. It was the day Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central district added colour to their lives.
The senator through his Liaison Office donated food items and other relief materials to the inmates. This was part of the activities marking his second anniversary at the senate.
Making the donation on behalf of the senator, the wife of Umuahia North Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Amaka Nwachukwu, said the former Governor was deeply touched by the plights of the inmates and decided to put smiles on their face to give them a sense of belonging.
Facilitator of the event and the senator’s Chief Liaison Officer, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, said besides his legislatives strides Orji had continued to positively affect the lives of his constituents.
Responding, Mother Angelene Umezurike in charge of Ahiaeke Motherless Babies’ Home, expressed gratitude over the gesture and prayed God to replenish the senator. She pleaded with him not to abandon the inmates assuring him of their continued prayers.
Meanwhile Senator Orji’s performance at the senate has been assessed by stakeholders from the zone, with majority of them scoring him high. The senator’s score card was given at a gala night organised in his honour by his constituents.
The stakeholders were in agreement that Orji had given them quality representation at the red chamber. They said his achievements so far had surpassed those of his predecessors.
Speaking at the event, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kanu said that Orji though a first timer, had given a very good account of himself at the senate having to his credit over nine bills and three motions.
His words: “Senator Orji takes the credit of whatever we are enjoying today in Abia for actualising power shift to Abia South. He laid a moral foundation in Abia by ensuring an Ngwa man became the governor, a jinx no man had broken”.
Speaking for the people of Osisioma council at the event, Chief Kingsley Mgbeahuru, said Orji had put up an impressive performance within his short stay at the senate, and assured him of the continued support of his people.

Chief Emma Nwabuko who spoke for Umuahia North council, said the people were convinced that the mandate given to Orji was not a mistake as the senator had proved beyond every doubt that he was elected to affect lives.
