El-Kanemi Warriors’ Samuel Mathias has said that he is not in any competition with MFM hitman, Stephen Odey for the league highest goals scorer award.
The Desert Warriors midfielder has downplayed any suggestions that he is competing with the Olukoya Boys marksman for the top flight’s Golden Boot
From the attacking midfield role, Mathias has scored ten goals while Odey has scored 14 goals after 19 matches.
However, he insists there is no pressure to compete with the forward as he is focused on helping his team.
“I have played against Stephen Odey and I think he is a good striker and he’s doing well for himself and his team,” Mathias said.
“For me, being the second highest goals scorer, I don’t feel any sort of pressure with Odey. There isn’t any kind of competition between me and Odey, he’s got his goals to score and I have mine too.
“My role and focus is to help my team, we want to win every match we play so that is what I want.
“We are like a big family here at El-Kanemi Warriors, we promised ourselves to finish the race. We have enjoyed working together as a team and we shall by God’s grace fulfill our promise at the start of the season to meet our set target,” he concluded.
